Affected: Users of Jupyter-Cloud
Impact: Juypter Extension Manager has been reenabled
This morning maintenance of Jupyter-Cloud completed around 9am.
The service received a minor update overall and the Jupyter Extension Manager was enabled
(again) in the Notebook UI:
https://jupyterlab.readthedocs.io/en/stable/user/extensions.html#managing-extensions-using-the-exten
sion-manager
The Extension Manager allows users to install additional extensions into their Notebook
server. Please keep in mind that some extension might not be designed to work with
notebook server running in a JupyterHub hosted environment, like our Jupyter-Cloud
service. They may prompt to execute additional installation steps that a regular notebook
user cannot perform. Some extensions, and indeed whole guides and howtos, are targeted at
users who run a notebook themselves on their local device and don’t take a JupyterHub
scenario into account. You may be able to adapt these steps by taking into account out
recommendations for installing additional software in Jupyter-Cloud:

Please use the Extension Manager at your own discretion and exercise general caution.
