A new Remote Desktop Server (gwd-wints5.top.gwdg.de) for administrative tasks is now available. This server will replace the meanwhile outdated GWD-WinTS3.  It is a Windows 2016 server, which looks in operation and appearance like the current Windows 10 desktop. A new feature is the use of virtual user profile disks, which allow the logon and logoff significantly faster.  A migration of the old user profiles is not planned. If you still have data on the old server, for example on your desktop, we ask you to back it up yourself or copy it to the new server. Our Script (https://info.gwdg.de/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=de:services:general_services:courses:ad-admin_admin-fibel.pdf) will help you with the configuration of the administrative consoles. Both servers are operated in parallel for a few weeks to give you enough time to migrate. However, the old GWD-WinTS3 will go out of service in the first half of January 2020.
 
Compared to GWD-WinTS1, GWD-WinTS5 may also access internal network and other administrative resources. For security reasons Internet access is not available. If you have any further software requirements, please contact support@gwdg.de.
