On 01.05.2021, the Microsoft framework agreement (“Campus Agreement”) of the University and University Medical Center (UMG) will be replaced by the new Federal Framework Agreement 3.0. This change of contract will be used as an opportunity to simplify the use of Microsoft 365 with Office on private devices for employees and students.

Until now, licences for Office 365 ProPlus on private devices could be obtained from our previous trading partner Asknet/Nexway via their portals academic-center.de (for employees) and studyhouse.de (for students) on the basis of an annual subscription. With the new framework agreement, users can independently activate Microsoft 365 with Office on private devices via the GWDG customer portal. After activation, the familiar credentials of the employee and student accounts can now be used for licensing purposes and separate Microsoft accounts are no longer necessary. Furthermore, the annual manual subscription renewal is no longer necessary.

Important for existing users: If you are currently using a subscription for Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus via academic-center.de or studyhouse.de, we recommend that you switch to the new Office offer via the GWDG customer portal as soon as possible. Please back up your OneDrive data locally so that you do not lose it when you switch licences. Currently running subscriptions will be terminated early on 30.04.2021.

Please note: Due to changes in Microsoft’s licensing regulations, the Office offer for private devices for employees of the central administration and the UMG cannot be continued for data protection reasons.
