Universities improve protection against hacker attacks with “eduMFA”

Freie Universität Berlin, Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, GWDG and the Tübingen-based company DAASI International GmbH, which specializes in research infrastructure, have jointly launched open source software that offers better protection against hacker attacks for IT services in the academic network. For this purpose, a fork of the existing open source software “privacyIDEA” was created, which is now being further developed under the name “eduMFA”. This new free software solution is already being used at the first universities in Germany. The project partners assume that “eduMFA” will be used at many universities and other academic institutions in the coming months.
