The OpenFOAM Workshop is the yearly conference of the OpenFOAM community. The 20th edition took this year place in person in Vienna, Austria. Patrick Höhn from the AG-C attended the conference as part of our community activies. The conference especially discussed the potentials of running simulations on GPUs for the currently CPU-based OpenFOAM implementations. Apart from technical talks, the Workshop also features 3 minute Splash Talks in which cool applications or initiatives can be shared. This year particulary the invitation to the OpenFOAM Workshop 2026 in Guimarães, Portugal, with a mock talk was pretty remarkable. One highlight every year is the keynote by Hrojve Jasak, one of the original developers of OpenFOAM, giving the state of the union about developments in hte previous year. Furthermore, the workshop has 1 hour sessions for training in various applications using OpenFOAM. Patrick previosly worked on an adapter for the foam-extend fork of OpenFOAM for the multiphysics library [preCICE](https://precice.org). This work was also the base of his talk at the conference highlighting the differences between the different forks and versions of OpenFOAM. It was also used in as a use-case for the training course on parallel debugging. Given the large audience, the splash talks also discussed local community events from Austria and Germany. Among these, the OpenFOAM Stammtisch for Germany is hosted at GWDG and was also advertised in a splash talk.
