Impact: file service not accessable during each scheduled down time
Upgrade of the HOME File Systems to StorNext 6.4 and Migration to new File Servers
From Monday, December 7th till Thursday, December 17th the file service environment of StorNext special filesystems and the GWDG home directories directories will be upgraded. The maintenance is preformed on one of GWDG's three Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) environments. The upgrade consists of a software upgrade to StorNext 6.4 and a migration to new hardware components (file servers). Because of the deployment of new file servers the upgrade work cannot be done without any down times. In order to avoid a long down time affecting all users the upgrade will be be performed successively for each file system.
To stabilize the future file service all file systems needs to be checked.
This results in a longer down time for each file system, but it is absolutely necessary.
For each file system the down time will take place according to the following time schedule:
UNI12 start: 12/07/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 5:00 p.m.
ENI_HSM start: 12/08/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 4:00 p.m.
MPAE_HSM start: 12/09/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 1:00 p.m.
MPEM_SDISK start: 12/09/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 1:00 p.m.
MPLM_HSM start: 12/09/2020 2:00 p.m. end: 12/10/2020 6:00 p.m.
SUB_NLH start: 12/09/2020 2:00 p.m. end: 12/10/2020 6:00 p.m.
UPRP_HSM start: 12/11/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 3:00 p.m.
UPRP_HSM_GWDG start: 12/11/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 3:00 p.m.
ASTRO_SV01U1 start: 12/14/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 5:00 p.m.
GL_CARPACCIO start: 12/15/2020 8:00 a.m. end: 4:00 p.m.

For upgrading managed filesystems (fs using tape) the storage manager will have to be stopped from 12/07/2020 till 12/11/2020; during this period of time no tape retrieves can be done. The affected user groups are informed. The archive service ($AHOME) is not affected by this means.
