{"id":7628,"date":"2017-06-26T09:32:02","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T07:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/info.gwdg.de\/news\/en\/?p=7628"},"modified":"2017-06-26T09:34:17","modified_gmt":"2017-06-26T07:34:17","slug":"failure-after-effects-of-power-failure-on-june-26th-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/info.gwdg.de\/news\/failure-after-effects-of-power-failure-on-june-26th-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Failure: After Effects of Power failure on June 25th, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Message-Id:<\/span><\/strong> 201706252205<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Time:<\/span><\/strong> June 26th, 2017, since 5:30 p.m.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Affected:<\/span><\/strong> P drive, HPC<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Impact:<\/span><\/strong> no access<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"Am Sonntag, dem 26.06.2017, gab es zwischen 17:30 Uhr und 18:00 Uhr einen ca. 10-min\u00fctigen Stromausfall am GWDG-Hauptstandort auf dem Max-Planck-Campus am Fa\u00dfberg sowie am Redundanzstandort in der Fernmeldezentrale der Universit\u00e4t.\">On Sunday, June 25th of 2017, there was an approx. 10-minute power failure between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the GWDG data center on the Max Planck campus (Fa\u00dfberg location) as well as at the redundancy location in the telecommunication center of the university caused by<\/span><span title=\"Ursache waren Probleme beim lokalen Stromnetzbetreiber;\"> problems of the local power grid operator. <\/span><span title=\"m\u00f6glicherweise war auch der zweite GWDG-Redundanzstandort in der Staats- und Universit\u00e4tsbibliothek betroffen. \">Possibly the second GWDG redundancy location in the state and university library was also affected.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"USV-Systeme haben die Auswirkungen stark abgefedert.\">UPS systems strongly reduced any harm. <\/span><span title=\"Leider konnte jedoch die USV die Massenspeichersysteme nicht lange genug versorgen, so dass der File-Service ausgefallen war. \">Unfortunately, the UPS did not supply the mass storage systems long enough, so that the file service failed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Inzwischen steht der File-Service weitgehend wieder zur Vef\u00fcgung.\">In the meantime, the file service is largely available again. <\/span><span title=\"Noch nicht vef\u00fcgbar sind die Windows-Anmeldeprofile und P-Laufwerke der Universit\u00e4t sowie das Gruppenlaufwerk der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften.\">Not yet available are the Windows login profiles and P drives of the university as well as the group drive of the economic and social sciences. <\/span><span title=\"Da ein Speichersystem mit Hardware-Defekt ausgefallen ist, kann leider noch keine Aussage \u00fcber den Zeitpunkt der Wiederinbetriebnahme getroffen werden. \">Since one storage system fails with a hardware defect, unfortunately no statement can be made about the time of the restart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Auch alle HPC-Knoten waren aufgrund des Stromausfalls ausgefallen und werden um ca. 11:30 Uhr wieder verf\u00fcgbar sein.\">All HPC nodes had failed due to the power failure and will be available again at approximately 11:30 a.m.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Message-Id: 201706252205 Time: June 26th, 2017, since 5:30 p.m. Affected: P drive, HPC Impact: no access On Sunday, June 25th of 2017, there was an approx. 10-minute power failure between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the GWDG data center on the Max Planck campus (Fa\u00dfberg location) as well as at the redundancy location in &#8230;
