In case your institute has custom requirements, we also offer housing and hosting options (see FAQ).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:132\">Technical details, detailed documentation, and further help can be found on our <a href=\"https:\/\/hpc-neu.gwdg.de\/hpc\/systems\/scc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" class=\"external\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"18:1-18:162\">In case more compute resources are required, we recommend applying for an account at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhr-verein.de\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" class=\"external\">NHR alliance<\/a> (see next section <strong>Emmy<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"20:1-20:7\"><a id=\"user-content-emmy\" class=\"anchor\" href=\"#emmy\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/a>Emmy<\/h2>\n<blockquote dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"22:1-22:91\">\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"22:3-22:91\">In the scope of the NHR alliance which aims to support researchers at German universities<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"24:1-24:582\">Our tier-2 HPC system Emmy is open to all researchers at <strong>German universities<\/strong> (see diagram below for more details). Before using this cluster, one needs to apply at the NHR alliance. Detailed information can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhr-verein.de\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" class=\"external\">website<\/a> of the NHR Alliance. If your project was granted by a funding organization on our allowlist (see FAQ), we offer a shortened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hlrn.de\/doc\/display\/PUB\/Proposal+Format\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" class=\"external\">proposal format<\/a>. Students who are working on thesis projects at the University of G\u00f6ttingen or Max Planck Society, can request a GWDG account that is affiliated with the institute of their supervisor. However, there are courses on High Performance Computing which are also open to students. This option allows us to provide a custom solution if you have special computing\/hardware requirements. This option includes electricity, cooling, and support for the hardware. But is does not cover any administration of the server, which remains in your responsibility and under your control.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"73:1-73:78\">We recommend our hosting option for better utilization of computing resources.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"75:1-75:27\"><a id=\"user-content-what-does-hosting-mean\" class=\"anchor\" href=\"#what-does-hosting-mean\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/a>What does hosting mean?<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-sourcepos=\"77:1-77:205\">Our hosting option includes all housing services but also covers the administration.
