{"id":14325,"date":"2020-03-24T15:44:32","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T14:44:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/info.gwdg.de\/news\/en\/?p=14325"},"modified":"2020-03-24T16:29:51","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T15:29:51","slug":"new-videoconferencing-tool-bigbluebutton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/info.gwdg.de\/news\/new-videoconferencing-tool-bigbluebutton\/","title":{"rendered":"Information: New Videoconferencing Tool BigBlueButton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the current COVID-19 crisis, we are currently evaluating possible e-learning scenarios together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-goettingen.de\/en\/125718.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"external\">e-learning service team of the University of G\u00f6ttingen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We are currently focussing on <a href=\"https:\/\/bigbluebutton.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"external\">BigBlueButton<\/a> an open source video conferencing tool that, in addition to conventional video conference functions such as screen sharing and chat, is also suitable for e-learning scenarios. The tool is based on HTML5, runs in the browser and does not require any software installation.<\/p>\n<p>BigBlueButton offers the following features that go beyond pure video conferencing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upload and show presentations<\/li>\n<li>Annotation function for presentations (also by multiple users inside)<\/li>\n<li>Download function of the presentations for participants inside<\/li>\n<li>Establishment of so-called &#8222;break-out rooms&#8220; for group work<\/li>\n<li>Note function<\/li>\n<li>Conducting surveys<\/li>\n<li>Recording options for the conference<\/li>\n<li>Individual sessions with up to 100 people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A test instance is currently available at <a href=\"https:\/\/bbb-test.gwdg.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"external\">https:\/\/bbb-test.gwdg.de<\/a>. Please log in using your respective UID (e.g. <em>mmuster<\/em>).
