Employees of the University of Göttingen can now activate their account for the use of Microsoft 365 via the GWDG customer portal. Work is already underway to make the service available to students. For reasons of data protection, employees of the UMG and the central administration are excluded from using the service.

Teams, a component of Microsoft 365, is an external videoconferencing solution from Microsoft, which we are thus providing as a further alternative. It should be noted that this is a cloud offer from Microsoft, which is managed by the GWDG. Data generated in this context is stored in the Microsoft cloud. The service is therefore not suitable for sensitive or personal data. For this purpose, we recommend BigBlueButton (BBB), as this videoconferencing solution is provided on the GWDG’s server.
