The new president of the Georg-August University of Göttingen, Professor Dr. Metin Tolan, will take office on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 7 p.m. in a ceremonial event. Due to the pandemic, the event will be broadcast live from the Aula am Wilhelmsplatz.
Dr. Valérie Schüller, Vice President for Finance and Human Resources and currently acting President of the University, will welcome the guests. This will be followed by speeches by Stephan Weil, Minister President of Lower Saxony, Prof. Dr. Peter Strohschneider, Chairman of the Foundation Council of the University of Göttingen, Prof. Dr. Stefan Hell, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, and Björn Thümler, Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture.
Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Metin Tolan will give his inaugural speech as the new President of Georg-August University of Göttingen.
