IBM's diskperf tool

IBM offers a diskperf tool for measuring the performance of the attached disk in the scope of database and storagepool usage.

The script cannot be found directly using google or so, because it's part of the blueprint collection and even there called “Spectrum Protect sesstest tool” (direct Link to Version 3.2).

An IBM Technote on the diskperf tool gives some hints in intepretating the results, but does not include a link for the download.

Linux in General

If you use the tsmconfig_v32c.zip the ldeedee command is not executeable, so first set the x bit:

chmod +x ldeedee

SLES12

SLES does not include the iostat tool by default, so you have to install it first:

zypper install sysstat iotop

Ubuntu

Ubuntu does not include the iostat tool by default, so you have to install it first:

sudo apt-get install sysstat -y
