Terms of participation

The GWDG Academy offers its services to employees of all institutions of the University of Göttingen, the Max Planck Society and scientific institutions that belong to the extended circle of users of the GWDG. Students on the Göttingen Campus are also among them. Some courses require special knowledge, which is mentioned in the respective course descriptions.

To register for a course, you must first log in to the GWDG Academy with your username and password. If you belong to the group of authorized GWDG users, you will automatically receive access to our course program.

If you do not yet have an account, you can get one at https://id.academiccloud.de and may have to be activated to register for our courses on request.

The registration procedure may differ for online courses. You will find more detailed information on this in the respective course description. Some online courses are available to you at any time and without registration.

The courses take place either in a suitable online format or as a face-to-face course. For more information on the venue of a specific course, including information on online courses, please refer to the relevant course description.

On request and if there is sufficient interest, we can also hold courses on site at an institute, provided that a suitable room with appropriate equipment is available there. If the venue is outside Göttingen, additional travel and hotel costs as well as expenses for the lecturer will be charged separately.

Cancellations can be made by the participant up to seven days before the start of a course. If the event of cancellations at shorter notice, the work units (AE) scheduled for the course will be deducted from the contingent of the respective institution. If a course has to be cancelled for any reason (e.g., if the minimum number of participants is not reached or if the lecturer falls ill at short notice), the persons concerned will be informed in good time. In such cases, the AE calculation is of course not applicable. However, no further claims can be recognized.

The Academy courses are - like most other services of the GWDG - integrated into the internal cost and activity accounting system of the GWDG. The AE on which the courses are based are deducted from the AE quota of the respective institution. For all institutions of the University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Society as well as most of the scientific institutions which belong to the extended circle of users of the GWDG, no billing in EUR is done. This also applies to students on the Göttingen Campus.
