 +
 +The __C__ommon __D__ata __St__orage __AR__chitecture (CDSTAR) is GWDG's system for storing and
 +searching objects in research projects. The goal of the software is to provide a storage system for structured and unstructured data. One of our main assumptions is that the data originates from research projects with diverse scientific backgrounds. The use cases that provide the requirements for CDSTAR span digital humanities, astronomy, and medical information management. The goal of CDSTAR is to provide an easy-to-use storage system that can store, modify, annotate, search, and access a large amounts of diverse
 +data.
 +
 +CDSTAR is developed at the GWDG as Open-Source-Software under the Apache2 Licence. CDSTAR is offered to the GWDG customers as individual service to power digital research infrastructures, or as a software product that can be extended for individual use cases.
 +
 +==== Using CDSTAR ====
 +
 +
 +==== Public Test Instance ====
 +
 +The public test instance at [[https://cdstar-prod04.gwdg.de/dev/null/|https://cdstar-prod04.gwdg.de/dev/null/]] is accessible from most institute networks and accepts any username and password your provide. It runs on the latest cdstar snapshot release and thus might be unstable from time to time, but it always contains the newest bug-fixes and features for your testing pleasure. All data uploaded to this instance is purged at least once a day If you cannot access the above URL, please send an E-Mail to the GWDG support with the public IP or IP-range of your network.
 +
 +==== Dedicated Test Instances ====
 +
 +If you need a stable test instance with more storage and pinned to a specific maintenance version, please contact the GWDG support.
 +
 +==== Local test environment ====
 +
 +During development of own applications against the cdstar API we strongly recommend to run a local instance of CDSTAR on your own hardware. An executable jar with minimal configuration and all dependencies included is available upon request.
 +
 +==== Source Code ====
 +
 +You can obtain the GWDG CDSTAR Cloud from GitHub.

 +==== Client Libraries ====
 +
 +If you want to use GWDG CDSTAR for your application, you can either implement the very simple API or use existing client implementations for your programming language
 +
 +=== Python Client Libraries ===
 +
 +Python Client Libraries are available on Github.
