In order to improve security and establish compatibility with future Microsoft security patches for the Windows operating system, the CIFS/SMB security settings for the following home shares will be adjusted in the maintenance window on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m:

\\winfs-son.top.gwdg.de\<User>$
\\winfs-uni.top.gwdg.de\<User>$

For current operating systems the changes will be transparent. Access problems occasionally observed after the changes can usually be resolved by a reboot of the respective user system.

For old operating systems that are no longer under support, the new security settings may result in a loss of access to the network shares.
