Sending of e-mails through UNIX-Mail server “mailer.gwdg.de” or “mailer.mpg.de” for general user operations will be gradually limited. As of 03/01/2016 12:15AM, this SMTP-service will be exclusively available for registered users.
The Exchange service users are not affected with these changes, unless someone have explicitly configured his SMTP Outgoing-server to “mailer.gwdg.de” or “mailer.mpg.de”.
Accordingly, the users who had configured their Outgoing SMTP-server to use UNIX-Mail servers in the past, they should change their configurations to use the Exchange server „email.gwdg.de instead. For more information, please see this manual: Link
The following restriction is now active:
03/01/2016 – complete shutdown including authenticated SMTP-connections (Port 25 and 587) for all non-registered users
Furthermore, sending emails on port 25 will be restricted to registered IP addresses on the following dates:
04/04/2016 – delivery delay of emails from unregistered systems
06/01/2016 – only e-mails from registered systems are allowed
System-Administrators who need to use UNIX-Mail servers “mailer.gwdg.de” or “mailer.mpg.de” as Outgoing SMTP-server on port 25 can request allowance to use the service.
