A developer of the open source software Samba has discovered a critical security vulnerability in Windows operating systems and the Samba software itself, which will be disclosed on April 12th, 2016, together with appropriate software fixes from Microsoft and for Samba:
Applying the patches timely will be required. Although the extent of the problem can not be estimated currently, we ask all GWDG users to have some understanding in case of possible short-term interruptions on April 12th due to the immediate need for applying the patches outside the regular maintenance window.
